Life Scale Figure in Paper Clay
Join me in Orlando, Florida!
In this two-day workshop, participants will learn how to use Cat’s approach to sculpting a hollow life-scale figure in clay. Participants will each build a 24” tall sculpture from mid torso to the head.
Instruction will cover how Cat uses paper clay slabs to create simple hollow forms that coordinate with photographic and drawn references to anchor her process in naturalism. Cat will lead participants through foundational anatomical concepts and sculpting strategies to encourage greater accuracy and expression as the components of the figure come together as a whole.
This workshop is perfect for anyone wanting to make larger figurative ceramics using the approachable methods of a skilled instructor. Participants of any skill level will be able to engage with Cat’s techniques with minimal equipment and materials. Suitable for all skill levels.

FaceTime: Hollow Sculpting the Human Head

As part of the Alabama Clay Conference, a limited number of participants will join Cat in using prepared slab-constructed cylinders to transform into life scale human heads using basic pressing and additive techniques. Instruction on proportion, form, and sculpting techniques will support artists of any level to foundational success.
